Four of the nine current CES keynoters are women. GenderAvenger, the activist group that raised a ruckus last year, recently sent CES organizers a congratulatory letter and awarded the show a “Gold Stamp of Approval” for a roster of keynote and “featured” speakers that it says is 45 percent women — 60 percent of them women of color.
The annual competition honors outstanding design and engineering in consumer technology products. Award categories include, 3D printing, digital imaging/photography, virtual and augmented reality and more.
For the first time in Las Vegas, Centerplate will deliver hot food on demand to CES booths so that exhibitors can maximize their sales time and won’t have to face crowds in lines at convention center food outlets.
With over 180,000 people expected to converge on various convention centers and venues across Las Vegas for the annual CES convention, roads near the sites are expected to be clogged.
The four days of the CES convention will bring an abundance of lights, sounds and people to the Las Vegas Strip. For newcomers, it can be easy to get swept up in the bustle of one of the world’s largest consumer electronics conventions.
CES will feature the latest developments in autonomous driving, urban infrastructure, quantum computing, home entertainment, as well as virtual and augmented reality.
CES, the world’s largest consumer tech show, is coming into Las Vegas Jan. 8, and is expected to bring in more than 180,000 visitors. Attraction businesses across the valley are preparing to see swings in the number of visitors.

The G2E conference gives vendors an opportunity to show off the latest gaming technology, but some of the attendees at the 2018 G2E said they were underwhelmed by this year’s technology.
Exhibitors on the Global Gaming Expo floor at the Sands Expo & Convention Center Wednesday pitched products to 26,000 attendees as casinos look for ways to turn young people into young gamblers.
Skill-based game manufacturer Gamblit Gaming’s booth was reminiscent of an ‘80s arcade. Neon-colored rays bounced off the walls, and a range of visitors in almost everydemographic stood around bar top games, cheering as Pac-Man ate pellets and escaped the likes of Blinky and Pinky.
Sharon Delaney McCloud, an Emmy Award-winning broadcaster, delivered the first keynote address at this week’s Global Gaming Expo at the Sands Expo Convention Center and The Venetian. The focus was women representation on corporate boards.
“There’s a real electricity in the air around the sports betting topic,” said Korbi Carrison, G2E event director. “Each state is deciding whether or not sports betting is right for them. At G2E, we’re offering them a platform to educate themselves, network with other stakeholders and learn so they can make informed decisions.”
