UNLV football returns to national rankings after San Diego State win

Updated November 17, 2024 - 12:05 pm

UNLV football is back in the national rankings after Saturday’s home win over San Diego State at Allegiant Stadium.

The Rebels are 23rd in both the USA Today coaches poll and The Associated Press Top 25 poll that were released Sunday. UNLV (8-2, 4-1 Mountain West) was previously in the national rankings earlier this season for the first time in program history, but dropped out after its overtime loss to Syracuse on Oct. 4.

The Rebels’ spot in The Associated Press poll is a season high, while they matched their season high in the USA Today poll. The team has won two straight games following its 29-24 loss to Boise State at Allegiant Stadium on Oct. 25.

The Broncos are the only other Mountain West team in both polls. Boise State (9-1, 6-0) is No. 12 in The Associated Press poll and No. 13 in the USA Today poll.

The Rebels next play at San Jose State (6-4, 3-3) at 7 p.m. Friday.
