Raiders put 2 players on reserve/COVID-19 list

Updated November 17, 2020 - 7:55 pm

The Raiders have added two more players to the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Defensive lineman Clelin Ferrell and defensive back Lamarcus Joyner were placed on the list Tuesday. It’s not clear whether they have tested positive or are on the list as a result of contact tracing.

A positive test would likely rule them out for Sunday’s prime-time game against the Chiefs at Allegiant Stadium. If they are on the list as a result of tracing, it’s possible they could play even though they might not be able to practice.

Ferrell suggested on his Instagram account Tuesday afternoon that he would miss Sunday’s game.

“I’m doing OK thank you to everyone who reached out!!!” he wrote. “I’ll be back better than ever!! (Stuff) hurts but we got better goals than one game!! Thank you Raider nation!!”

The addition of Ferrell and Joyner brings the number of Raiders on the list to four. Both Joyner and Ferrell have played in every game for the Raiders this season, with Ferrell starting all nine.

Linebacker Cory Littleton missed Sunday’s win over the Broncos after testing positive last week and has not been returned to the active roster.

Tackle Trent Brown tested positive last month and came off the list a week later, only to be re-added several days later because of complications.

Defensive lineman Maurice Hurst spent two weeks on the list last month after testing positive. He missed the first meeting against the Chiefs.

The Raiders have dealt with a variety of COVID-related issues this season, including the accumulation of nearly $1.2 million in fines to the organization, coach Jon Gruden and several players for violating league protocols related to the virus.

The last time they were scheduled to host a prime-time game was in October, when they hosted the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Raiders were forced to practice without their entire offensive line for the full week because they were deemed high-risk contacts of Brown, who was found to have not been compliant in wearing a device used to gauge time and range of contacts at the team facility.

That game was eventually moved from a prime-time spot to a daytime kickoff out of concern the game may have to be canceled.

Safety Johnathan Abram missed that game because he was determined to have hung out with Brown on an off day during the week.
