‘No timeline’ for Marc-Andre Fleury’s return to Golden Knights

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Marc-Andre Fleury is in Montreal because of a “serious illness” in his family and there’s “no timeline” for his return, coach Gerard Gallant said Wednesday.

Fleury left the team’s two-game trip Tuesday to be with his family.

Goaltender Garret Sparks was called up from the American Hockey League’s Chicago Wolves under emergency conditions in Fleury’s absence. The Knights were scheduled to travel to Las Vegas after their game against the Nashville Predators on Wednesday and practice Thursday at City National Arena. They play the Arizona Coyotes at 3 p.m. Friday, then travel to New York that night for a four-game trip.

Fleury, 34, has played well to start his third season with the Knights. He’s 11-6-2 with a 2.54 goals-against average and .919 save percentage.
