Program offers kids chance at a better life
I have three wonderful kids that each attend a different school because of their ages.
My middle child’s public school is amazing and, I believe, the best in Las Vegas. He is excelling and looks forward to going to school each day. But my oldest and youngest sons go to schools that are complete disasters.
Education is the most important tool for our children to become successful adults and to have the best quality of life possible. I believe in public education and I know it works for some students, like my middle child. But it does not work for all students.
That’s why I immediately applied for the Education Savings Account for my oldest and youngest sons as soon I heard about the program. This is a program that will allow my sons to go to a school that meets them at their learning needs and encourages them to reach for their dreams.
I hope the current legal injunction delaying this life-changing program will be lifted and the process to fund the accounts will be accelerated. Please don’t let my children, and the children of thousands of other families across our state, miss out on the opportunity for a better education and a better life.

Knuckle draggers
Depending on whom you choose to believe, either Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton will win the election in a landslide. Never mind neither has yet acquired the delegates needed for nomination.
One thing is for sure, though: The election process must be changed. Enforcing strict rules of debate etiquette might be a good start.
Ted Cruz might as well run on a third party ticket if for no other reason than to annoy both presumptive nominees and the knuckle draggers who put them there. The political climate can’t get much worse.

Bathroom policy
Given the Obama administration’s position on transgender access to bathroom and shower facilities — and the administration’s threat to terminate federal education funding to jurisdictions that don’t go along — I wonder if the president will terminate federal aid to countries that do not comply. Will Mr. Obama demand that Iran comply with transgender access to bathroom and shower facilities as a condition for future peace negotiations?

Globe trotting
In a recent wire service story, President Obama said that the presidency should not be treated as a reality TV show.
When a European ally is under attack, he is in Cuba watching a ball game. In previous trips, he has apologized for America’s arrogance. Now he plans to visit Hiroshima. He says the presidency is not a reality show. Then why does he appear to be doing his impression of “The Amazing Race”?
Maybe he should park Air Force One and stay in America for a while and try to address the issues facing America.

Ugly ‘art’
In response to your Tuesday story, “Set In Stones: Boulder stacks near I-15 amaze with eye-popping hues”:
Seven Magic Mountains is art? Really? How is that possible? Seven piles of rocks painted in terrible colors and stacked in the desert? They certainly ruin the natural landscape they invaded.
And it cost $3 million? I hope there was no tax money used for this waste of time and money.
It’s very sad to see what some people consider “art.”

When will the DMV, courts and law enforcement make living in Clark County with out-of-state plates so difficult that offenders will stop ignoring the law?
The state, counties and cities would all benefit by enforcing the registration laws and allowing residents to “rat out” the violators who live in our communities.
