Oscar Goodman ride story a real eye-opener

I really appreciate the Review-Journal bringing light to this Oscar Goodman robbery of taxpayer funds (“Free Ride,” Sunday). What a crying shame. I’ve been in Las Vegas for only three years and have never heard of this guy. The idea that’s he some kind of magic magnet for getting convention business to flock to Las Vegas is really an excuse for self-gratification.

The use of alcohol while promoting a city and the purchase of alcohol with tax dollars is even more disturbing. Again, apparently another self-gratifying habit of convention authority staff under the cover of attracting business. I hope in upcoming coverage of this issue you can inform the taxpayers just how much sales it take to recover $700,000 in a for-profit business.

Remember the federal GSA scandal? Clowns, hot tubs, alcohol and mind readers? Is this the kind of business Mr. Goodman is taking credit for? Tell him we as taxpayers are not interested in taking it in both ends. Make this old man a farewell martini and set him out to pasture.
