Once you start redistributing, where do you stop?

To the editor:

Once all of the wealth of the affluent is redistributed, you just might be the only one who has any wealth left — even if it is only $1,000.

But if you are the only one with $1,000 left and others still have considerably less than you, you are now the one considered affluent. Shouldn’t your $1,000 be redistributed to those who are less affluent than you?

The same dilemma would apply if you had $100 but others did not.

Ask yourself if you had only one loaf of bread left to feed your family, would you share that singular loaf with others?

Clean up the valley

To the editor:

Thank you, Matt Trafford, for your letter to the Review-Journal about the litter problem in the Las Vegas Valley (Saturday edition). I, too, have lived here a short time, and I am appalled about the trash everywhere you look.

I live near an elementary school and a middle school, and the litter is beyond belief –fast-food wrappers, soda and water bottles, candy wrappers, school papers, and the list goes on.

I feel there should be very stiff fines for littering. Or how about a litter fee for all drive-through food services.

Better yet, have the schools sponsor a litter program where the kids get out and pick up the litter.

I’m with Mr. Trafford. If the valley is dirty and ugly with trash, no one will want to come, no matter what you build. We are neglecting the best assets we have to offer visitors: clean air, great weather and beautiful landscaping.
