LETTER: Gun-free zones don’t save lives, they cost lives

Gun-free zones have yet to save one life. They do not save lives. They cost lives, and I avoid them like the plague. They are sitting-duck zones.

I saw where Metro police officers were recently commended in Washington, D.C., for shooting and killing a criminal who was shooting at them. Again, it takes a good guy with a gun to stop a bad guy with a gun.

I agree with the Sunday column by Victor Joecks decrying political violence. He ignores, however, this country was founded on political violence.
