An abysmal failure of leadership

Too many members of Congress are Democrats and Republicans first before they are Americans. Their priorities are their own self interests and their party, with America last.

In the upcoming election for the White House, voters need to decide which candidate will do the least damage.

In America, the people are said to be the government. But the real government consists of the people we send to Washington to serve us — and they are a law unto themselves. We put our trust in them to do what is best for America. In this they have been an absolute failure.

God help America; the Democrats and Republicans will not.

Equal time

I read with interest your recent wire service story, “Trump Taj bankruptcy still angers the little guy contractors.” I do not condone what Mr. Trump did and I feel for their losses. But I would like to hear from Mr. Trump’s representatives.

I am also waiting for the same full blown page in the Review-Journal to feature information about Mrs. Clinton’s worldwide contributors who gave millions to the Clinton’s Foundation or the generous payments she received from Goldman Sachs for giving speeches.

And what about the Benghazi issue or her emails, among her many accomplishments? Records show the net worth of Bill and Hillary Clinton is $110 million — not bad for a couple who left the White House broke and in debt.

How much does the Review-Journal charge for a full page? I believe Mrs. Clinton deserves the same treatment as Mr. Trump.

Invading vermin

The Wednesday newspaper was no more cheerful than it was last week or last month or even last year. Nearly 50 innocent men. women and children were killed by vermin scum in an airport in Turkey. Officials say this was an act committed by an “Islamic State group.”

I’m not sure who is most at fault, the Islamic State group or the officials who identified them as responsible for this tragedy.

These attacks have been going on for how long, now? The “officials” know who is committing the crimes … yet they haven’t stopped it. If vermin invaded my home, I would eradicate them within a week.

It seems to me that the leaders of the “free world” — combined with modern technical knowledge and specially trained military forces — could eradicate the vermin from our Earth, if they wanted to, in short order. Is the so-called United Nations incompetent or is there another ulterior motive for inaction?

And, of course, the United States — the so-called leader of the free world — has government leaders who get tongue tied when trying to say ”Islamic State” and seems equally powerless. Or are we too busy playing Democrat and Republican to pay attention to such matters?

The vermin seem to have the upper hand here and it’s as shameful as shameful gets.

LETTER: Highways will go the way of the horse and buggy

I personally can’t wait to give up the soporific scenery, racetrack-like mentality and beautiful Baker bathroom stops of the Interstate 15 car commute in favor of a sleek, smooth train.
