Reno soldier’s funeral planned

RENO — Funeral services for a Reno soldier killed in Afghanistan are tentatively scheduled for Saturday.

Army Pfc. Kevin C. Thomson was killed Oct. 3 in Kamdesh, Afghanistan, during a firefight against insurgents. He was one of eight soldiers killed.

Nevada National Guard spokeswoman April Conway said tentative arrangements have been made for a service Saturday at 11 a.m. at Mountain View Mortuary, then burial at 2:30 p.m. at the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley.

Thomson, 22, joined the Army in April 2008.
