Heck, other lawmakers in Afghanistan

WASHINGTON — Rep. Joe Heck, R-Nev., and other lawmakers touring U.S. war zones this week were in Afghanistan on Tuesday and met with President Hamid Karzai, according to reports.

Karzai told the lawmakers to scale back U.S. military operations that are killing civilians, according to AFP, the French press agency.

The six-member delegation also attended a memorial at Bagram Airfield for five U.S. soldiers killed Saturday, according to Politico, which cited a Twitter feed from the U.S. Embassy at Kabul.

The delegation spent Monday in Pakistan and was in Iraq over the weekend.
