Event offers information on veterans’ benefits

The Department of Veterans Affairs’ Southern Nevada Health Care System, along with 13 veterans service groups, will host a “Welcome Home Celebration” on Wednesday at the Suncoast.

The event, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., is for veterans of all generations, their families and caregivers who wish to learn more about veterans’ health care, benefits, employment opportunities, education, transportation and housing.

To kick off the “Welcome Home Celebration,” VA officials will honor World War II veterans by commemorating the 68th anniversary of the June 6, 1944, D-Day invasion landings on France’s Normandy beaches.

Federal, state and community officials will be available to help veterans with information about benefits, higher education, housing programs and low-cost child care agencies.

The event takes place in the Suncoast’s second floor, Grand Ballroom, 9090 Alta Drive.

For more information call 702-636-4000.
