2 killed in east Las Vegas crash

Two people were killed in a fiery single-vehicle crash early Saturday in the far east valley, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

Police said that the speeding Toyota Camry smashed against a concrete barrier that signaled a closed road at East Sahara Avenue near Voyage Cove Drive, east of Hollywood Boulevard.

The crash was reported at 12:13 a.m., according to police, which noted that the road had “warning signs.”

The Clark County Fire Department extinguished the blaze.

Both occupants died at the scene, police said.

They were the 55th and 56th traffic fatalities investigated by Metro this year.

The Clark County coroner’s office will release the names of those killed.
