Fishing Report, Aug. 30

■ LAKE MEAD – Fishing continues to be good for stripers, and anglers have found striper boils in the Callville Bay area. Monsoonal rains have dropped a lot of water into the lake, and runoff has caused the water to be somewhat murky. Keep an eye out for floating debris.

■ LAKE MOHAVE – The area around Cottonwood Cove continues to provide good action for catfish along with largemouth and smallmouth bass. Few stripers have been taken over the past week, even though conditions have been good.

■ LAUGHLIN – The lagoon has been productive this week, with large bluegill taking night crawlers. One young angler hauled in a bluegill weighing 3.68 pounds and measuring 15 7/8 inches. Striper action also has picked up near Big Bend and below Davis Dam, with fish ranging in size from 3 to 5 pounds.

■ URBAN PONDS – The Nevada Department of Wildlife catfish plant was conducted last week at Floyd Lamb Park, Sunset Park, Veterans Memorial Park in Boulder City and Hafen Park in Mesquite. Anglers have been catching a few bluegill along with the catfish. Limit on these waters is three fish, regardless of species.

■ KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA – Anglers willing to battle weeds are catching largemouth bass, though fishing activity is slow. Trout fishing also is slow.

■ EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR – Anglers using night crawlers with mini-marshmallows have been finding good action for 13- to 15-inch rainbows and a few brown trout. PowerBait came in a close second for hooking up rainbows. A 2½-pound largemouth bass also was taken from the lake this week.

■ ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR – Fishing continues to be good for rainbows, crappie and largemouth. Anglers have found success while using PowerBait and night crawlers with mini-marshmallows. Fly casters have been doing well using brown Woolly Buggers with gold bead heads. Lake levels have risen following the monsoonal rains, and the water is a little murky due to runoff.
