Variety of Asian flavors grace Wong’s plates

David Wong’s Pan Asian, 2980 S. Durango Drive, offers “some Malaysian, Indonesian and Cambodian dishes, as well as Thai, Chinese, Japanese and Vietnamese food,” David Wong says.

The dishes are prepared by chef Lisa Wong, who creates the recipes.

The Wongs moved to Las Vegas last year from Florida. The restaurant can seat “about 20 people” and it does a large carryout business, David Wong notes.

They tailor the strength of a dish’s spiciness to the patron’s taste. “If people ask for spicy, I will make it spicy. If they don’t want spice, they won’t get it,” he says.

Lunch specials, served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays, include pad thai, stir-fried linguini, fried rice and curries, priced from $6.95 to $8.95. There are also seasonal specials such as duck curry and whole snapper.

Although there is no specific children’s menu, Lisa Wong says, “we will make children’s dishes on request, things like chicken teriyaki or stir-fried noodles.”
