Time to set up your NFL viewing place

OK, enough about LeBron already.

Enough about Jeter (although, congrats, man!). Enough about the World Cup (nice job guys, see you in four years). And, enough — really, really enough — about Pistorius (man, is that creepy).

Big sports stories, all, and they’ll no doubt be followed by more big sports stories before the buzzer sounds and the game begins again in 2015. But we don’t care, because the most wonderful time of the year is approaching.

Football season. And, to celebrate the return of pro football to our TV screens, the Las Vegas Review-Journal is again compiling a directory of valley bars that cater to fans of individual NFL teams.

This season’s directory will run in the R-J’s Life section and online at www.reviewjournal.com on Aug. 31, four days before the NFL’s Packers-Seahawks season opener.

Just like every other year, we present this directory with the unapologetic, intractable aim of telling you where to watch your favorite team’s games — and only your favorite team’s games — while surrounded by fellow fans of your team, thus creating the vibe of watching a game in a bar back home or at your team’s stadium, only with cheaper beer and restrooms that still work after halftime.

(As always, our advice to fans who prefer to watch several games at once: Go outside, fling a football in any direction, and walk to the sports bar or sports book it’ll surely hit.)

Now, the rules:

■ We’ll list only those bars that show only its team’s games while that team’s game is being broadcast. We don’t include sports bars, sports books, casinos, bars or rooms inside casinos or anyplace else where multiple games are being shown while the hometown team’s game is being broadcast.

■ The bars on our list must be able to show every single game its team plays. Until the NFL figures out a way to pipe games directly into our skulls — and don’t think Roger Goodell doesn’t have black ops lab guys working on that even as we speak — that means the bars will have to subscribe to the NFL Sunday Ticket satellite package.

■ We don’t require it, but we do love our food and drink specials. So, we’ll be happy to list food and/or drink specials (with prices) that bars will run during their team’s games.

■ Similarly, we’ll be happy to list giveaways — drawings for footballs and caps and such — bars will offer during their team’s games, although we don’t list gaming-related promotions.

Finally, we’ll obtain all of this info only from bar owners or managers during an actual telephone conversation (remember those?). We will not accept voice-mail messages, text messages, emails, press releases, letters, faxes or secondhand messages of any sort. So, bar owners or managers should call us at 702-383-0280 — if we don’t answer immediately, just leave a phone number and we’ll get back to you ASAP — from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday until Aug. 15.

No information will be accepted after 4 p.m. Aug. 15 because we have deadlines, too, you know.

So get out the face paint, dig out your jerseys, and hope this year’s draft was your team’s best-ever.
