Free concerts take stage on Fremont Street
The Fremont Street Experience will offer a pair of free shows this weekend. Collective Soul will perform at 9 p.m. Friday on the 3rd Street stage, and Better Than Ezra will play at 9 p.m. Sunday on the Main Street stage.
Free movie Thursday evening at sunset
The Downtown Container Park will show “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” on Thursday evening as part of its Sunset Cinema series. The films start around sunset, which is about 7:10.
Step up to the mic Monday at the Artifice
Artifice will host an open mic night starting at 9 p.m. Monday. All entertainers are welcome, and there’s no cover charge at the Arts Factory watering hole. artificebar.com
Firearms in crime, law topic of program
The Mob Museum, 300 Stewart Ave., will present the program “Perpetrators and Protectors: The Mob, The Law and Firearms” at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Presenter Ashley Hlebinsky of the Cody Firearms Museum at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West will review specific firearms used through the history of organized crime and the law. She will address the Thomson submachine gun, the way criminals have relied on guns and police have used them to stop crime, and specific features of some of the weapons in the museum’s collection. Whiskey tasting slated for Wednesday night
Oak & Ivy in the Downtown Container Park will host a Russell’s Reserve whiskey tasting from 8-11 p.m. Wednesday. Distiller Eddie Russell will host the event, and tickets are $45 plus a $3.47 fee, and available through Eventbrite.
Bingo night Wednesday at Banger Brewing
Banger Brewing Company will host its monthly bingo night on Wednesday. Players will have the chance to win beer and other swag. Games get underway at 5:30, and the last ball will be called around 8 p.m.
