Eatery offers Slice of Vegas, by way of New York

MJ Jasilewicz Jr. describes Slice of Vegas Pizza as “fun, energetic, family-oriented.”

The restaurant opened April 6 in Mandalay Place at Mandalay Bay, 3950 Las Vegas Blvd. South, with a menu that takes everyone into account.

“We have vegan and gluten-free options for every section of the menu and a separate kids menu,” says Jasilewicz, vice president of operations for Titan Brands, owner of Slice of Vegas Pizza.

Chef Devin Murchin adds: “Our responsibility, as well as our guests’, is to see they eat healthy, fresh food. Everything has to taste good like it came from Mom’s kitchen.

“And we worked really hard to come up with New York-style pizza. Everyone says you can’t do it here, that it’s the water. But we found a way. All our pizzas are made from scratch and baked in a stone oven. Our specialty pizzas are things we like, but you can have a cheese pizza and add things you like.”

Slice of Vegas Pizza offers wines and sangria by the glass or bottle, along with a selection of 60 beers, 52 bottled and eight on tap. There are also specialty cocktails at $11.95 each, including the Mobgarita, Concrete Shoes and Fogedaboudit.

“Our prices are moderate for the Strip, and MGM employees get a 25 percent discount,” Jasilewicz says.

The restaurant seats 225 people and has a banquet room that seats 150. The theme and decor are vintage Vegas, from the covers of record albums recorded live on the Strip to pin-on buttons created for landmarks and events here. The Touch Tunes music system can be operated by patrons from their smartphones.

Slice of Vegas Pizza is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays, and on Fridays and Saturdays, a casual takeout “deli” section featuring a counter with a few seats is open until 2 a.m.
