Dining Pick of the Week: Skinny Chick Fat Chicken

Skinny Chick Fat Chicken

3137 S. Industrial Road, 702-685-7400

Just off Sahara Avenue, down Industrial Road, between a couple of adult shops, is Skinny Chick Fat Chicken. The walls are built with wood planks and ceilings fans hang low, as the flat-screen TV floods the booths with sports. There are two menus — Skinny and Fat — and each offers breakfast, wraps and salads (the Fat side also includes wings, burgers and pizza, whereas the Skinny one has grilled chicken sandwiches). The Skinny Chicken Caesar Wrap ($9.95) was scrumptious despite being healthy, with the chicken grilled perfectly. It is served with kale, tomato and cilantro-lime Caesar dressing. The Skinny Greek Turkey Burger ($11.95) was delicious, with the feta cheese soaking into the tzatziki sauce and the radish and cucumber adding crunch. From the Fat side, all-you-can-eat wings and fries are $19.99. The fries come as traditional french fries, sweet potato or seasoned with Cajun zest. The burgers are $11.95 and include the half-pound Angus burger with fried egg and cheddar cheese. Diners can add avocado or bacon for $1. The Fat Turkey Burger includes accents of sage mayo and sweet potato stuffing. The Fat wraps, $9.95, come oozing with cheese, with crisp fried chicken in a flour tortilla. Choices include Buffalo, BBQ or chicken Parmesan. Breakfasts from both sides of the menu showcase wraps for $7.77 and pancakes and waffles ranging from $9.95 to 11.95. Unfortunately, the pizza oven was broken during my visit, so no flatbread pizza was available. Skinny Chick Fat Chicken is open from 9 a.m. to 1 a.m. daily. Quick order and online menus are available at skinnychickfatchicken.com.

Dear Penny: Do I really have to tip 20% at a buffet?!

To answer this common question, we have to shift the way we understand tipping. The reason we tip is not to offer a thank-you or a reward to service workers for an outstanding or even sufficient job.
