Dining Pick of the Week: Frank & Fina’s Cocina

Frank & Fina’s Cocina

4175 S. Grand Canyon Drive, 702-579-3017

Frank & Fina’s Cocina is one of those restaurants that, upon entering, transports you somewhere else. While dining, you have to remind yourself of what is outside the doors: Are you in a mission-style restaurant in another country, or is Las Vegas still out there? The wait staff is soft-spoken, knowledgeable and quick, and the food is, simply, too good because stopping eating doesn’t cross your mind until your belly is ready to burst. Chips, fresh salsa and house-made guacamole are offered first, and if you’re not careful, they’re all you’ll eat, as their flavors keep you coming back to the chip basket for more. The crab enchiladas, topped with red and green sauce, cheese, grilled onions and sour cream, come layered in the cheese and sauce, with each bite offering a new taste to explore. The chile relleno burrito offered even more flavor experiences. Dessert came in the form of deep-fried ice cream, and again, each bite offered a new adventure for the taste buds. If only one’s belly could expand indefinitely. Other offerings include sopas, ensaladas and combo plates. The chicken mole, shrimp Fina and sweet potato enchiladas come highly recommended. Frank & Fina’s Cocina is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
