Dining Pick of the Week: Braddah’s Island Style

Braddah’s Island Style

6410 N. Durango Drive, 702-901-8516

By now, the fast-casual concept that is Braddah’s Island Style will be familiar to regular on-the-go diners: Upon entering the restaurant, you’re presented with menu options that feature your ingredient selections served in a bowl, as a burrito or as tacos. Once this decision has been made, you’re faced with several other choices, all competing for your taste buds. If you’re a vegetarian, your decision is easy, as grilled veggies are the only option. For meat eaters, you can select Huli Huli chicken (marinated and grilled chicken breast), Kalua pig (slightly salty and savory shredded pork), Pelehu steak, or for those seeking a healthier option, grilled fish. Next you select if you want your meat or veggies served on a pile of seaweed or brown rice, along with beans. Next, you’ll pick a sauce, selecting from charred pineapple verde, mango and roasted corn or tomato with grilled Maui onions. The guacamole features Hawaiian pink salt, a perfect marriage reflecting the restaurant’s Hawaiian-Mexican-infused influence. Toppings are next and include cheese, tomatoes, jalapeno, cabbage and bean sprouts. For dessert, be sure to try the Coconut Bark, candy-like chunks of toffee covered in chocolate and coconut. A Pumpkin Bark is available for the fall holidays and features a subtle pumpkin-toffee flavor and toasted pumpkin seeds in place of coconut. Menu items average about $10. Braddah’s also has locations at 2330 S. Rainbow Blvd. and 4632 S. Maryland Parkway, Suite 17, near UNLV. Braddah’s Island Style on Durango Drive, which includes a drive-thru, is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.
