Dining Pick of the Week: Bob Taylor’s Original Ranch House

Bob Taylor’s Original Ranch House

6250 Rio Vista St., 702-645-1399

Bob Taylor’s Original Ranch House has been a staple of Las Vegas since 1955. Back then, it was only accessible by a dirt road. Now, it’s surrounded by homes and butts against the 215 Beltway. Inside, the rustic setting has a cowboy theme with bridles and long horns hung among the silver screen memorabilia – autographed photos such as John Wayne’s and posters from Audie Murphy flicks. Known for its steaks, the menu features a 22-ounce Porterhouse, 8- or 12-ounce filet mignon, 16-ounce grande filet, rib eye with or without the bone in, New York steak and top sirloin. For those who like a challenge, the Diamond Jim Brady New York steak is 32 ounces (you get a free dessert if you finish it). Chicken entrees start at $19.99 and include Marsala, picatta, cordon bleu, barbecue and smoked half chicken. Seafood choices include shrimp, salmon, halibut, scallops in a Chardonnay cream sauce and king crab legs. Twin lobster tails are the most expensive item at $51.99. And no ranch house menu would be complete without baby back ribs. All dinners come with soup or salad, garlic cheese bread and choice of potatoes or rice. Lunch features half-pound burgers, salads and sandwiches such as French dip with au jus and grilled rib-eye cheesesteak. Bob Taylor’s is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
