Dining Pick of the Week: Biscuits Cafe

Biscuits Cafe

8465 W. Sahara Ave., Suite 100, 702-242-2207

Biscuits Cafe arrived in Las Vegas in the spring after starting in the Pacific Northwest. Breakfast and lunch are served in an oversized, contemporary space with plenty of booth seating as well as tables. The company’s motto is stenciled on the wall: “We don’t serve fast food, we serve fresh food as fast as we can!” Large-portioned breakfast items such as the four-egg omelet dominate the menu. True to its name, biscuits take top billing, with biscuits and gravy served with two large eggs and choice of ham, bacon or sausage. There’s also house-made corned beef hash made with slow-cooked beef brisket and a beef sirloin prepared the way you like it. Black Oak kielbasa and chicken apple sausage are items not found in many restaurants. Biscuits also offers chicken fried steak using Angus beef that’s lightly breaded, then cooked golden brown and covered in sausage gravy. French toast varieties and waffles also are offered, as are various styles of omelets and Benedicts. There’s also the veggie wrap (egg whites, green peppers, onions, spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes and refried beans, wrapped in a warm flour tortilla) and the breakfast burrito (eggs, peppers, onions, tomatoes, chorizo sausage, refried beans, cheddar and jack cheese, wrapped in a warm flour tortilla). Lunch offerings include fish and chips made from Pacific coldwater cod and served with french fries, coleslaw and garlic bread. Black Oak mac and cheese features kielbasa sausage for comfort food at its best. A fish combo is served on Fridays, when cups of clam chowder join the menu. Salad options include barbecue chicken chopped salad, Fiesta chicken salad and Greek and Cobb styles. Items run about $10. Biscuits Cafe is open from 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sunday. For more information, visit biscuitscafe.com.
