Let’s do right by the season of peace

To the editor:

Patrick Buchanan’s Nov. 11 commentary motivated my thinking. As the season of peace approaches, when good will to men is sincerely expressed to a world that has lost hope, peace and good will, there is only one answer to stop the insanity of murder everywhere. We all need a strong change of will, a change of heart, to ignite this hope for peace and tolerance.

It must begin with ourselves and all our brothers and sisters in the world.

Next we need to teach our dear children by example, not only tolerance but respect and acceptance of others who believe differently. We do this by forming a true conscience and behavior. We can help rule out prejudice, which leads to distrust and hatred. We need to remind ourselves how destructive revenge and vengeance can be.

We must not rob our children of their right to childhood innocence and exuberance for life.

Let us teach and exemplify forgiveness and love. Our world’s survival depends on it.

GM stock farce

To the editor:

A more appropriate definition of the General Motors IPO is “Intrusive Putrid Offer.”

The taxpayer laid out $50 billion for a GM bailout and we still foot their bill. What a deal — we give them $100 and they give us $25 back!

The real benefactors are the foreign countries. Chinese insiders knew about it first and are making out like bandits again at taxpayer expense. The government selling shares is just another massive transfer of wealth to the United Auto Workers and other government favorites.
