Free meals available for kids this summer

Two programs are offering free meals for kids at a total of 21 locations across the valley this summer.

The Culinary Academy of Las Vegas is shepherding 19 sites through the federal 2012 Summer Food Service Program. It provides free meals to children ages 2-18 on weekdays throughout the summer.

And Communities in Schools of Nevada is offering free meals and snacks, also to kids 2-18 and also on weekdays, in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Southern Nevada Housing Authority and Three Square food bank.

The Culinary Academy of Las Vegas sites are as follows:

■ Andre Agassi Boys & Girls Club, 800 N. Martin Luther King Blvd.;

■ Doolittle Community Center, 1950 N. J St.;

■ East Valley Family Services, 1800 E. Sahara Ave.;

■ Hinman Elementary School, (starts July 2), 450 Merlayne Drive, Henderson;

■ McCaw Elementary School, 57 Lynn Lane, Henderson;

■ Jackie Gaughan Boys & Girls Club, 920 Cottage Grove Ave.;

■ James Club House, 2530 E. Carey Ave., North Las Vegas;

■ Lied Memorial Boys & Girls Club, 2850 S. Lindell Road;

■ McCabe Boys & Girls Club, 2801 E. Stewart Ave.;

■ Pearson Community Center, 1625 W. Carey Ave., North Las Vegas;

■ Pecos Pointe Apartments, 1650 N. Pecos Road;

■ Ralph & Betty Engelstad Boys & Girls Club, 3540 Cambridge St.;

■ R.A.M. (Reconciliation Apostolic Ministries), 1401 N. Decatur Blvd.;

■ Taylor Elementary School, (starts July 30) 144 Westminster Way, Henderson;

■ Trinity Life Center, 950 E. Sahara Ave.;

■ Sherman Garden, 1701 N. J St.;

■ Sister2Sister Connection (starts Monday), 700 Lola Ave., North Las Vegas;
