Trim yucca flower stalks quickly

Question: I have a yucca that has finally matured enough to flower. Do I leave the flower stock on or cut it off once the flowers are dead?

Normally we cut off the flower stalk as soon as the flowers are finished. You would trace the flower stalk deep inside the yucca and cut it off, leaving as little stub as possible.
