SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A Utah soldier died Wednesday in a non-combat incident in Qatar.
Department of Defense officials say 44-year-old Tracy L. Stapley died Wednesday at Camp As Sayliyah. He was a first sergeant assigned to the Army’s 308th Medical Logistics Company out of St. George and was supporting the war in Afghanistan.
Officials didn’t provide a cause of death and say the incident is under investigation.
The soldier’s father, Elwin Stapley, told the Deseret News his son was a husband and father who served a mission in Argentina for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
