Job fair for Las Vegas veterans to be held Thursday

The city of Las Vegas will host a job fair targeting veterans on Thursday and more than 45 employers are expected.

The job fair will take place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the East Las Vegas Community Center, 250 N. Eastern Ave.

Veterans are encouraged to bring their resumes since each employer will have at least two job openings.

The job fair is part of a national initiative adopted by the Southern Nevada Regional Planning Coalition Committee on Homelessness.

It is based on a national program called Opening Doors, the nation’s first-ever comprehensive plan to prevent and end homelessness. One goal is to end homelessness among veterans by 2015.
