US Vets – Las Vegas, co-sponsors to hold 13th annual veterans stand-down

U.S. Vets – Las Vegas with a host of co-sponsors will hold its 13th annual veterans stand-down Wednesday and Thursday to help homeless veterans combat life on the streets.

The event from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. both days at the Cashman Center, 850 Las Vegas Blvd. North, offers housing placement, employment and education, financial assistance, access to military records, legal assistance, counseling and treatment, medical, dental and vision care, showers and haircuts.

U.S. Vets – Las Vegas is a community-based intervention program aimed at helping homeless veterans make transitions from street life to self-supporting jobs. Its parent organization, U.S. Vets, is the nation’s “largest nonprofit provider of comprehensive services to homeless and at-risk veterans,” according to the group’s website.

Co-sponsors of the 13th annual stand-down include USAA, Vietnam Veterans of America Post No. 1076, New Song Church, Jewish War Veterans Post No. 65 and others.
