Sports betting can be as serious as bettors want it to be. Some people study a game for seven days before placing a wager. Others glance at the board for seven seconds before crafting a five-team parlay.
For those who want to take betting more seriously, here is an introduction to some of the basic math that helps bettors make better wagers.
Most bettors don’t come to a sportsbook to do math. However, having at least a baseline knowledge of the numbers at play is critical to those looking to improve their bottom line. Here are some of the numbers for bettors to keep in mind when throwing down their cash:
