Getting Real ID at Nevada DMV equals real red tape

I am trying to get the Real ID driver’s license that will be a required document for boarding an aircraft or entering federal facilities in the near future. Because my name on my Social Security card did not match my birth certificate, I have to go to a special office to have it changed — takes two weeks. Then I must go back to the DMV again to finish the process.

Where is the disconnect with those contending that getting a Voter ID card would be such an inconvenience? I feel their pain.
