Las Vegas could host the National Football draft selection event as soon as 2019 and a Super Bowl by 2024 or 2025, the president of the Oakland Raiders told the Las Vegas Stadium Authority on Thursday. Marc Badain also told board members that he and Stadium Authority Chairman Steve Hill would be flying to Houston on Tuesday for the second round of bidding for the planned 65,000-seat domed football stadium to host one or more FIFA World Cup soccer matches in 2026. He imposed a deadline of Friday on himself to make a decision. White said at he is “100 percent” getting into boxing and is in the process of acquiring his license. “We all know boxing is broken. The question is, how do you fix it? If you think about all the people involved in boxing, not a lot of people make a whole lot of money,” White said.
A judge on Thursday postponed the execution of twice convicted murderer Scott Dozier, who was set to die early next week. At Thursday’s hearing, lawyers for the Nevada Department of Corrections presented a copy of the state’s execution protocol signed by the warden of Ely State Prison. Dozier, who first requested last year that his appeals stop, told District Judge Jennifer Togliatti on Wednesday that he was “98.76 percent certain nothing is going to change.” Dozier, 46, would be the first inmate executed in Nevada since 2006. A Clark County jury convicted him in September 2007 of killing 22-year-old Jeremiah Miller at the now-closed La Concha Motel. In 2005, Dozier was convicted in Arizona of second-degree murder in another case.

Victor Joecks Interviews Republican U.S. Senator Dean Heller about DACA, the Raiders stadium, Tarkanian and tax reform.
Sen. Dean Heller says he will support a bill constitutionally authorizing the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. Heller said he wanted any DACA fix to include elements like mandatory E-Verify and money for border security, but that he would vote for a clean bill if that was the fix offered.
Sen. Dean Heller wants to ensure the new Raiders’ stadium in Las Vegas is able to issue tax-exempt bonds. The Tax Cut and Jobs Act unveiled last week in the House of Representatives includes a provision that prevents professional sports stadiums from issuing tax-exempt bonds. Without an exemption, that change would alter the financing of the Raiders stadium.
Heller made his comments while appearing Wednesday on Nevada Politics Today.
