Nevada wildlife officials have launched an owl webcam. Two great horned owls are nesting at the Desert Research Institute in Reno. Lights FC ready to start season

The Lights FC opens its season at 7 p.m. Saturday at Fresno FC. The match is the first of the team’s 34 regular-season games. The Lights goal is to make the playoffs in their first year. To do that, they’d have to finish in the top eight of the 17-team Western Conference. We’re definitely excited for the season to kick off already and to see what the other teams have in store for us because we know we’re ready.

Pedestrian dies after being dragged half-mile after being struck

North Las Vegas police are investigating a Friday morning hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian. Police said an adult man was hit near a gas station on Las Vegas Boulevard North and was dragged a half-mile to where his body was found on an onramp to I-15 at Lake Mead Boulevard. Police are asking for the public’s help as they search for the vehicle. This is the 10th fatal crash of 2018 in North Las Vegas.

Jordy Nelson is a Raider. Michael Crabtree no longer is. Nelson reportedly agreed to a two-year, $15 million contract. Crabtree, due a $7 million salary, is now a free agent. Quarterback Derek Carr played a central role in Nelson’s recruitment. Nelson totaled 550 career catches for 7,848 yards and 69 touchdowns during his 10 years in Green Bay.

The 50th anniversary running of the Mint 400 was Saturday . It rained over the course near Primm holding down the dust … … for a little while, at least. When the dust lifted, Bryce Menzies raced to the victory. It was his second Mint 400 overall win. The Las Vegas driver won by 28 seconds — one of the closet finishes in Mint history. Menzies covered three loops of the 118-mile course in 5 hours, 52 minutes.

ESPN’s Former President Resigned Due to Cocaine Extortion Plot John Skipper shockingly resigned in December, citing a long battle with substance addiction. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Skipper revealed that he was embroiled in a cocaine extortion plot. Skipper said that he had been carefully using cocaine for years but when he bought from a new dealer, they threatened him.
