Zappos Theater replaces Axis at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas

Las Vegas apparel company Zappos and Caesars Entertainment Corp. have partnered in rebranding Planet Hollywood’s concert venue. Beginning Monday, Axis theater is out. Zappos Theater is in. Jason Gastwirth, senior vice president of entertainment for Caesars, and Tyler Williams, “fungineer” for Zappos, described the agreement as the first step in a long-term relationship. “This is a strategic marketing plan and a coming together of our organizations,” Gastwirth over the phone Saturday. Zappos agreed to an exclusive, five-year marketing partnership with Caesars. The deal could lead to additional venue-branding possibilities between Zappos and Caesars. But for now, Williams said, “We are pouring everything we have into this partnership.”

Chef Natalie Young has overcome addiction, and opened her 3rd Las Vegas eatery. 17 years ago, Young was fired from a top restaurant in Telluride, Colorado while struggling with a cocaine addiction. Natalie Young Young got a job with a limousine service for a few weeks and saved up enough money to come to Las Vegas. She spent 2 months in rehab, and 4 years at a sober-living house. In 2015, Young received a $225,000 loan from Zappos CEO Tony Hsieh to open Eat. Young just opened Eat Summerlin in June, and also owns Eat in downtown Las Vegas and Chow.

The Lights FC are going to be bright in their inaugural season Las Vegas’ United Soccer League club unveiled its home jerseys Wednesday at sponsor Zappos’ Downtown campus The jersey features a black background with the Lights logo below the neck and Zappos’ logo across the chest, but there’s also neon blue, yellow and pink throughout “It’s very different from other teams,” Lights midfielder Julian Portugal said. “Even pro teams in Spain, England, they have generic jerseys. This is different. I like it.” The neon accents were designed by Zappos art director Fernando Cabestany “It’s flashy, and I think that’s what we want to represent,” Lights defender Zak Drake said. “Las Vegas is a flashy city, so the jersey represents it really well.”

Zappos offers to cover funeral costs of Las Vegas shooting victims

Online retailer Zappos will cover the funeral costs of any of the 58 families affected by the Las Vegas Strip shooting who approach the company. Zappos, based in downtown Las Vegas, also will match up to $1 million donated through crowdrise.com, according to a company statement. The company will cover all fees. As of Friday, the company had raised about $395,000. A casket alone can cost between $2,000 and $10,000, according to the Federal Trade Commission.
