Shadow Ridge gets revenge on Palo Verde, wins title

Shadow Ridge knocked off Palo Verde twice Saturday to claim the Sunset Region softball title. Palo Verde had beaten Shadow Ridge three times in the regular season, and once in the playoffs. Shadow Ridge won 3-2 in the first game, then outslugged Palo Verde 10-8 in the second. Shadow Ridge last won the region title two years ago, but has never reached the state title game. The Mustangs will get their chance next week when they head to Reno.

Palo Verde defeats Centennial for Sunset baseball title

Palo Verde beat Centennial 15-0 and 1-0 on Saturday
to claim the Class 4A Sunset Region baseball title. Jaret Godman picked up the win in both games. He struck out seven in 3 1/3 innings
of relief in the second game to secure the 1-0 win. For the tournament, Godman had three wins and a save.
He didn’t allow a run in 15 1/3 innings. Bryce Robison combined with Godman on a three-hitter
in the second game. It was the first region title in school history, and secured a berth in the state tournament.
