Alyssa Stanley’s late home run saves Shadow Ridge

Shadow Ridge used a late home run to take a 5-4 road win against Centennial on Wednesday. Alyssa Stanley hit it, turning a 4-3 deficit into a 5-4 lead with two outs in the seventh. Mia Voges finished it off by striking out the final hitter, and stranding the tying run at second. Centennial led 4-1 after four innings, but Shadow Ridge fought back with two in the fifth. The win moved Shadow Ridge to 19-8 (11-3 Northwest League), and dropped Centennial to 20-13, 11-6.

Clutch 2-out hit powers Palo Verde to series sweep of Centennial

Palo Verde beat Centennial on Thursday, 5-3, completing a three-game sweep. Palo Verde jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first, and held on until the sixth. It was there the Bulldogs battled for three runs to tie the game. In the bottom of the sixth, Samantha Wade singled home a pair in what turned out to be the game-winning hit. Taylor Askland took care of business with a complete game, and struck out 10. It was the 15th straight win by Palo Verde dating back to 2014, including five playoff meetings. Palo Verde improved to 21-7, 12-0 in Northwest League play. Centennial fell to 20-11, 11-4.

Centennial baseball knocks off Cimarron-Memorial

Centennial’s baseball team beat Cimarron-Memorial 3-0 on Friday. Nik Dobar went the distance and struck out five. Michael Jones started the scoring with a sun-aided triple to right field in the fourth. Centennial added runs in the fifth and the sixth, and worked around trouble in the field. Centennial improved to 17-5, 11-1 in Northwest League play.

Palo Verde softball picked up a key league win over Shadow Ridge on Tuesday. Palo Verde had 12 hits, including homers from Makall Whetten and Lauryn Barker. Shadow Ridge led 2-1 after two innings, but the Panthers scored three in the third. They took the lead for good in the fifth, and held off a rally in the seventh. Palo Verde improved to 9-5, 4-0, and moved into first place in the Northwest League.
