Sen. Tick Segerblom is running for the Clark County Commission, District E, but he’s keeping one eye on the Clark County School District. Segerblom wants to increase both the sales and property taxes and have the county commission take control of the school board.

Segerblom made his comments while appearing on Nevada Politics Today.

“We need those extra resources that we just don’t have right now and that costs money,” said Segerblom of his desire to raise the sales tax in Clark County by one percent. “We cannot be held hostage by the rest of the state.”

CCSD Trustee Kevin Child vowed to continue visiting CCSD schools, despite Superintendent Pat Skorkowsky’s memo banning him from CCSD facilities. He said he had visited schools since the memo came out without incident.

“I’m going to go to schools,” said Child. “There’s got to be due process and I was never allowed due process. All it was, was that someone sent a memo out. To me, that creates a hostile work environment when you have no basis.”

Tarkanian believes Trump wants him to beat Heller in GOP primary

Danny Tarkanian believes President Donald Trump wants him to beat Sen. Dean Heller in Nevada’s Republican primary. Tarkanian isn’t counting on an endorsement, however, because he knows Trump needs Heller’s vote to pass legislation. Tarkanian made his comments Wednesday on reviewjournal.com’s “Nevada Politics Today.” “President Trump needs Dean Heller’s support on other bills that he’s trying to pass, so it’d be pretty unrealistic to think that he’s trying to come out and attack Dean Heller now, while he’s still waiting for the votes to come through,” Tarkanian said.
