During the national anthem, Oakland Raiders quarterback Derek put his arm around defensive end Khalil Mack to show a sign of solidarity. As he did in the first week of preseason, running back Marshawn Lynch opted to sit during the anthem.

NFL Unveils its National Anthem Policy The NFL released the revised policy on Wednesday after the controversy surrounding kneeling protests. NFLPA NFLPA The mandate requires players who choose not to stand to stay in the locker room or a similar location. The league will also exercise its right to fine any franchise that does not stand and “show respect” for the Anthem. Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick headed the kneeling protests in 2016, with many NFL teams following suit to date.

Florida State University Head Coach Jimbo Fisher is Leaving to Coach at Texas A&M Fisher resigned on Friday, just one day ahead of Florida State’s final game of the season. Kevin Sumlin, the previous head coach at A&M, was fired earlier this week. In his eight years in charge, Fisher lead FSU to a 83-23 record with a 5-2 record in bowl games. Fisher’s best season asa head coach came in 2013 when he helped the school to a BCS National Championship. “I believe Texas A&M is getting one of the best coaches in college football. We appreciate all [Fisher] has done for our program and wish him and his family great success moving forward.”
