1. The Las Vegas officer faces charges in the death of Tashii Brown has filed a lawsuit against the police department. Officer Kenneth Lopera’s lawsuit states he shouldn’t have to submit a formal interview because he will be provided “no immunity from future prosecution based on those statements.” Brown died May 14 after being repeatedly shocked with a Taser, and placed in an unauthorized chokehold.

2. Golden Gate in downtown Las Vegas has reopened its doors after closing for renovation on Friday. The multimillion-dollar renovation was completed in 106 hours, and nearly doubled the size of the casino. It also added a 24-foot, 360-degree “television fountain” with a multifaceted spiral crystal chandelier at a new casino entrance off Fremont.

1. The Mayweather-McGregor fight is tomorrow night, and airport officials are bracing for an influx of private jets. Private plane traffic usually jumps during major fight weekends, so this weekend pilots and plane owners are being asked to make reservations. Officials are hoping to avoid the traffic issues experienced during the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight when a taxiway had to be converted into a makeshift parking lot.

2. The driver arrested in the fatal crash that killed a Shadow Ridge student in February was sentenced to eight to 20 years in prison on Thursday. David Fensch pleaded guilty to DUI resulting in death in June, after admitting to police he had taken Xanax and consumed “four drinks” of Captain Morgan rum before plowing into the back of 16-year-old Jaelan Fajardo’s car. Fensch had 4 previous DUIs.

3. The man arrested after attacking a mannequin with a hammer downtown last year, was ordered to spend eight to 20 years behind bars on Thursday. Shane Schindler pleaded guilty to attempted murder in June, after police set up the mannaquin as a decoy to look like a sleeping homeless man. Las Vegas morning update for Monday, August 14th

1. A 15-year-old girl called police Sunday night and told them her stepfather shot her mother and then himself. Police responded to the call shortly after 8:30 p.m. to the scene where the man shot his wife multiple times before shooting himself. The couple had no prior domestic violence reports. Police say the teen is with police and safe.

2. A University of Nevada Reno student that participated in a white nationalist rally Friday has denounced violence that erupted over the weekend. Peter Cvjetanovic said he attended the rally to “honor the heritage of white culture” and does not advocate for violence. Over 100 people attended a rally in North Las Vegas Sunday night to honor a woman who died and many others injured in the Charlottesville protest.

3. The Maloof brothers, who own a minority stake in the Vegas Golden Knights, placed a monster bet on the Floyd Mayweather-Conor McGregor fight late last week. Gavin Maloof confirmed the $880,000 bet for Mayweather over the weekend and said Mayweather is a good friend. If Mayweather wins, the Maloofs will win $160,000 and say the money will be donated to charity.
