Former police officers Tou Thao, J. Alexander Kueng and Thomas Lane have been criminally charged

Henderson Constable Earl Mitchell may face additional charges … stemming from his spending of county funds, sources said. Mitchell was indicted earlier this month on five felony theft and fraud charges … after a Las Vegas Review-Journal story questioned his spending. But grand jury records show even more extensive spending including … an $800 dinner at steakhouse … nearly 200 atm withdrawals mostly at gambling establishments … and even Disneyland tickets. But his attorney plans to ask a judge to dismiss the charges.

Teacher at Las Vegas magnet school arrested on child sex charges

A math teacher at West Career and Technical Academy in Las Vegas has been arrested on child sex charges. Renee Rine, 36, was booked Friday into the Clark County Detention Center. She is being held without bail. She also faces charges of first-degree attempted kidnapping and contact with a minor or mentally-ill person. Rine is the ninth school district employee arrested during the current school year.

‘Charges being investigated’ in Las Vegas shooting

Lawyers with Las Vegas police said Tuesday that criminal charges related to the Oct. 1 shooting may be coming. The news came during a hearing on whether documents related to the shooting investigation should be unsealed. LVMPD attorneys argued that the documents should remain sealed because they may be used to support charges. Stephen Paddock opened fire from his Mandalay Bay suite, killing 58. Officials have identified no other suspects in the case.

1. A 2012 attack at a Las Vegas Strip nightclub has resulted in a $160 million jury verdict. According to the lawsuit, David Moradi, a former New York hedge fund manager, sued Marquee nightclub at The Cosmopolitan after security guards shoved Moradi and demanded his ID and credit card. A local neurosurgeon diagnosed with Moradi with a traumatic brain injury following the incident.
2. The father of a missing teen and his girlfriend are both facing murder charges. Police say substantial information led to the arrest of Paul Jones and Latoya Williams-Miley. 13-year-old Aaron Jones went missing in January. Police suspect a decaying body found by the family on Tuesday could be Aaron’s.
3. CCSD trustees pulled controversial employee contract proposals from the agenda on Thursday night, a plan that shows continued tensions between Superintendent Pat Skorkowsky and some board members. The proposal to terminate the contracts of confidential employees after they expire was perceived by some to effectively oust Skorkowsky and his team, and a way to block the district’s mandated reorganization.
