Supporters sign petition to reinstate teacher who used N-word

Nearly 700 people have signed an online petition to bring back a Virginia teacher who was placed on leave after she used the N-word during a high school history lesson.

During a discussion about the Washington Redskins football team, a student asked the teacher, “What’s the big deal with calling them Redskins?”

The teacher told WKTR she responded by asking, “What would you think if someone started a team called the Newport News N—–s?”

Until the school completes an investigation of the incident, the teacher will remain at home.
