Overland Park, KS — A Johnson County man has been arrested, accused of stalking a celebrity.
According to KCTV, Zachary Benton Self, 19, of Overland Park, KS, was booked into the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Tuesday afternoon.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said Self faces one count each of stalking and first-degree burglary. He is accused of being found in singer Lana Del Rey’s Malibu home.
Self is charged with stalking the singer, whose real name is Elizabeth Grant, through social media, starting on Nov. 2, prosecutors said. On Nov. 29, Self allegedly broke into the singer’s home, which is unoccupied while it undergoes renovations.
Construction workers spotted Self at the entertainer’s home on Nov. 30 and called police but he was gone when they arrived. The next day sheriff deputies found and arrested him.
On a Facebook page for a Zachary Benton Self, a number of pictures of the singer have been posted, going back to Sept. 30. Near the “About” section, the poster wrote, “#Engaged to Heaven on Earth #with @LanaDelRey”.
On Nov. 28, a post was made to the page that said “So close” and included a map narrowing in on Nevada and California.
Prosecutors have asked that Self’s bail be set at $200,000.
