Cop escorts woman in scooter home from highway — VIDEO

Drivers along Washington State Route 546, near the Canadian border, began posting Tuesday on social media about what looked like a slow-speed pursuit, but what was really happening has drawn even more attention.

Trooper Dave Hintz was escorting a woman in a motorized scooter home after she made her way onto the highway after going out for coffee, KOMO reported.

“I wasn’t trying to stop her. I wasn’t trying to detain her. I was just trying to get her back to her home,” Hintz said. “I just treated her the way I would’ve wanted somebody to treat my mom.”

The woman, who was described as being in her 80s, was riding on the highway when she got lost. She was four miles from home going the wrong direction, troopers said.

An hour later, at 3 1/2 mph, the woman was home after being escorted by the trooper.
