Clark County lets dogs have their day at Desert Breeze pool

On the last day of swimming at many neighborhood pools, you’re likely to find kids and adults soaking up the last moments of summer. But at Desert Breeze Aquatic Center, the final day in the water is reserved for swimmers with four legs, not two.

200 animals find homes at Clear the Shelters event in Las Vegas

For many of animals, Saturday was the day they would find a new home. More than 200 dogs, cats, rabbits, turtles and at least one guinea pig were adopted at the Clear the Shelters event, one of many held around the nation and sponsored by NBC and Telemundo.

 
Thousands skate into Las Vegas roller derby convention

Holdaway, 59, flew to Las Vegas from Geraldton, Australia, on Tuesday and had competed in eight scrimmages by the time RollerCon roller derby convention was winding down Sunday. She was on the winning team about half of the time, she said.

 
College student’s nonprofit helps homeless in Las Vegas

Las Vegas native Sydney Grover, a Grand Canyon University student and Palo Verde High School graduate, will open her nonprofit’s Priceless Pop-Up Shop from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Care Complex, 200 Foremaster Lane, to give the homeless a chance to shop for clothes.
