Vaughn’s pinch-hit homer powers 51s past Reno

Pinch hitter Cory Vaughn hit a three-run homer in the seventh inning to help the 51s pull away for a 6-2 Pacific Coast League road victory over the Reno Aces on Tuesday night.

Kevin Plawecki, also a pinch hitter, broke a 2-2 tie with an RBI single to score Josh Satin just before Vaughn’s blast broke open the game.

Logan Verrett allowed two runs on six hits over six innings to improve to 7-2 for Las Vegas (54-39). John Church and Ryan Reid combined for three scoreless innings out of the bullpen.

Rehabbing Mark Trumbo had three hits, including a solo home run in the first inning, for Reno (50-43).

The third game of a four-game series begins at 7:05 p.m. today.
