UNLV freshman forward and Henderson resident Danny Musovski has been named the National Soccer Coaches Association of America National Player of the Week after leading the Rebels to their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1988.
Musovski had one goal and two assists at the Western Athletic Conference Tournament last weekend, helping the Rebels win the title Sunday with a 2-1 shootout win over Bakersfield in the championship game. Musovski converted his penalty kick to keep UNLV in front during the shootout.
Musovski, who played at Liberty High School, is the first UNLV player to win national player of the week honors. The Rebels will meet UC Irvine at 7 p.m. Thursday in their first-round NCAA tournament match.
