ELY — It was the kind of ultimatum you hear often from father to son: If you don’t want to play football, fine. But for such a physical kid, you’re going to do something.
OFFENSIVE LINE: The lineup is pretty well set for what should be one of the Mountain West Conference’s top lines.
DEFENSIVE END: Every defensive end plays each side, so UNLV doesn’t have a depth chart behind each player. Senior Daniel Mareko has been injured but could be a factor.
SPECIAL TEAMS: Nothing is close to being decided, with plenty of competition at kicker, punter and both return jobs. The depth charts are listed in alphabetical order
ELY — UNLV continues its football camp in this small town of the Steptoe Valley, shuttling from hotels to afternoon drills to the next command of new coach Bobby Hauck, all the while its conference is intimately involved with the saga that is conference expansion.
TAILBACK: It’s difficult to know where junior C.J. Cox fits into the plans because he has missed much of training camp to injury. So the depth chart below isn’t necessarily the one UNLV will take into the season.
The more Craig Thompson speaks, the more he sounds like the steward from “Titanic,” the one who told the wealthy passenger to return to her state room, that the shudder she felt was probably nothing more than a thrown propeller.
