UNLV reserve Walker sprains knee, to miss at least three weeks

UNLV reserve guard Dantley Walker has a sprain of his medial collateral ligament in his right knee and is expected to miss three to four weeks.

Walker, a freshman from Panaca, suffered the injury in the Rebels’ 76-75 loss Saturday at Air Force. He played eight minutes, hitting 1 of 5 shots and scoring two points.

Walker has played in 11 games this season, averaging 5.8 minutes and 2.4 points.

“We are very disappointed for Dantley,” coach Dave Rice said. “He is an important part of our team, and we know he will work extremely hard to get back to playing as soon as possible.”

UNLV has lost three guards to injuries this season — Daquan Cook, Rashad Vaughn and now Walker.

UNLV will dress seven scholarship players and two nonscholarship players Wednesday when it meets Boise State at 8 p.m. at the Thomas & Mack Center.
