Rebels receive Massamba’s letter of intent

After a brief delay, Brice Massamba officially became a UNLV men’s basketball signee Monday when the school received his letter of intent.
The 6-foot-10-inch Massamba averaged 6.4 points and 5.2 rebounds as a senior at Findlay College Prep in Henderson.
“His size, maturity and leadership will fit in perfectly with our team,” Rebels coach Lon Kruger said. “He really makes progress every week and will continue to do that during his career.”
The spring signing period opened April 16. Massamba signed but had to send the letter to his mother in Sweden before it could be delivered to UNLV.
Oscar Bellfield, a 6-1 point guard from Westchester High School in Los Angeles, signed with UNLV two weeks ago.
The Rebels’ recruiting class for 2008 also includes two November signees — Deshawn Mitchell, a 6-6 forward from Monmouth Academy in Howell, N.J., and 6-8 forward Darris Santee from Midland (Texas) College.
