Lady Rebels sink Utah State

Sophomore India Chaney tied a career high with 16 points Tuesday night, helping the UNLV women’s basketball team defeat Utah State 65-47 at Cox Pavilion.

The Lady Rebels (7-5) used a 14-3 run to take control midway through the first half and led 30-22 at halftime.

The Aggies (6-6) pulled within 34-28 early in the second half before UNLV put the game out of reach with a 17-6 run. Utah State got no closer than 11 points the rest of the way.

Jamie Smith added 14 points for the Lady Rebels, and Erica Helms scored 13.

Shamela Hampton grabbed 10 rebounds for UNLV, which had a 49-33 advantage on the boards.

Danyelle Snelgro had a team-high 14 points for the Aggies, who shot 31 percent.

UNLV will host Fresno State on Friday in the Lady Rebels’ final game before starting Mountain West Conference play.
